Who Sits Behind the Desk…?

The answer to that question in Volume 2 of BLACK COTTON is Qia Cotton. With this blog post, we want to begin to give you all some insight into the Cottons’ world a year later after Zion’s “Officer Involved” Shooting. Here’s what we can tell you — Qia Cotton is in the driver’s seat at Black Cotton Ventures, Inc. at the moment. With Patriarch and matriarch, Elijah and Jaleesa Cotton, out of the country dealing with their business rivals — the Keshinomis and the fallout from the twins murderous rampage (see BLACK COTTON Volume 1), Qia Cotton is literally running the business and making all of the decisions. And one of the ventures that she’s honed in on is something that the Cottons have been working on for years, before the “Officer Involved” Shooting took place… A community and neighborhood betterment plan for Benin, Virginia.

Ha! “Community and Neighborhood betterment plan”… Look, all that means is… Gentrification. Qia is leading the charge, and has been for a few years, to gentrify underprivileged areas in Northern Virginia. Before Volume 1’s events, she was already tackling North West Benin. When Volume 2 begins, she is in the midst of working on South East, but she’s having a harder time, with permits and the people, more specifically, the crime.

Okay, so, that’s it for now… That’s all we can give you. BLACK COTTON: WHITE ON WHITE CRIME & THE PLIGHT OF GENTRIFICATION will be a continuation of the characters’ from Vol 1’s story while also being a new story that will shed more light on the Cottons, the Keshinomis, and other characters as we expand this Black Cotton Universe.
